A School Girl's Guide to Phobias

The definition of a phobia is a type of anxiety disorder defined by a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation. Phobias typically result in a rapid onset of fear and are present for more than six months, but you probably already know that since the term "phobia" is quite common but not many people really know that much about phobias. There are three main groups of phobias which include, specific (simple) phobias, which are the most common and focus on specific objects, social phobia, which causes extreme anxiety in social or public situations, and Agoraphobia, which is the fear of being alone in public places from which there is no easy escape. I personally wouldn't say I have a phobia but if I did have a phobia it would be Nyctophobia (fear of night or darkness), Atelophobia (fear of imperfection), Claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces),or Atychiphobia (fear of failure). Did you know that the weirdest phobias in the world are Chorophobia (fear of Dancing), Heliophobia (Fear of Sunlight), Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia (Fear of the number 666), Anthophobia (Fear of Flowers), Phobophobia (Fear of having a phobia), Nomophobia (Fear of not having mobile phone access), and Telephonophobia (Fear of making or taking phone calls)? There are many things people are fearful of, but the ten most common phobias are Pteromerhanophobia (fear of flying), Claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), Entomophobia (fear of insects), Ophidiophobia (fear of snakes), Cynophobia (fear of dogs), Astraphobia (fear of storms), Trypanophobia (fear of needles). That's all I really know about phobias so I hope you enjoyed it.

PS: Sorry that I don't post very frequently anymore, I have a lot of work to do since I'm still in school but I promise I'm going to try to post more frequently.
