A School Girl's Guide to Birthdays

The definition of a birthday is the anniversary of the day on which a person was born, typically treated as an occasion for celebration and the giving of gifts. I decided to write this because my birthday is in a little while (It's April 20th). The word birthday originates in late 14c., from Old English byrddæg, "anniversary or celebration of one's birth" (at first usually a king or saint); see birth (n.) + day. Meaning "day on which one is born" is from the 1570s. Birthnight is attested from the 1620s. If you're wondering how to make your birthday a little more special, I have a few tips. Eat your favorite food. It's your day, you deserve it, do a favorite childhood activity, remember your favorite birthday, laugh out loud, give a gift to someone else, give your day away, give yourself the gift of time, and send yourself a card. Any good birthday needs a birthday speech, the birthday speech introduction can include thanking everyone for coming and their gifts, thanking the person who asked you to make a speech, and thanking the people who planned the party. You might think about thanking the host for your invitation and congratulating the guest of honor. I don't know what else to add since I rarely get invited to birthdays, I hope you enjoyed this.

Personal Opinion: I believe birthdays are a lot more important than they're given credit, they're a day to celebrate a certain person, that day is all about them. I hope to one day be invited to more birthdays so I can show more people how much they mean to me
